According to a Facebook post by blogger Ritah Kaggwa, panic has reportedly spread among National Unity Platform (NUP) foot soldiers after internal intelligence claims revealed that some members may be working as spies within the party.
The blogger alleges that individuals accused of spying were paid to monitor NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), party officials, and supporters, and then pass information to government security agencies.
One of the names mentioned is Denis Mukibi, said to be associated with Freedom Boda. He is accused of pretending to be part of the struggle while allegedly sharing information with security agencies. The post further claims that days before the arrest of NUP supporters in Mbarara, Mukibi was in contact with a police officer identified as Afande Mukiibi. During the chaos, he reportedly acted as if he had been arrested but was later released.
The blogger also reports concerns about another NUP foot soldier, Sadam Makeebe, who is said to be suffering from a severe eye infection after the party’s presidential campaign trail in Fort Portal. In a circulating video, Makeebe is reportedly seen asking for help, fearing he may lose his sight. He allegedly blames Mukibi, claiming that after a bitter fallout, he became a target of security forces who sprayed chemicals into his eyes.
Ritah Kaggwa further claims that several NUP supporters who have previously been arrested have raised similar complaints, alleging that spies within the party are working with security agencies to frustrate the struggle.
The post concludes by claiming that those accused of spying are allegedly celebrating in Kampala after what is described as a failed mission to compromise Kyagulanyi.
