AMOLATAR – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2025 – The electoral landscape in Kioga County is set for a significant shift as the Electoral Commission (EC) has officially scheduled the nomination of Mr. Felix Adupa Ongwech as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag bearer for October 22nd, 2025.
The announcement solidifies Adupa’s position as the frontrunner in the ruling party’s primary process, bringing his campaign one step closer to a formal declaration for the parliamentary seat.
A Proven Player with Deep NRM Roots
Political analysts and supporters point to Adupa’s extensive experience and connections within the NRM as a key asset. Described by his campaign team as “tried, tested, and proven,” Adupa is not a newcomer to the inner workings of the party.
His political acumen was prominently displayed during the recent NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections, where he played a pivotal role in nominating the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, for the position of Second Vice Chairperson. This move is widely seen as a testament to his ability to lobby and build strategic alliances with the party’s top leadership.
“Mr. Adupa understands the mechanics of the NRM,” said a source close to the campaign who preferred to remain anonymous. “His relationships are not just for show; they are channels he intends to use to deliver for the people of Kioga County.”
A Record of Fighting for Accountability
Beyond his party credentials, Adupa has built a reputation as a grassroots advocate, particularly on the issue of corruption and fiscal accountability. He gained prominence in Amolatar District by relentlessly demanding transparency from local leaders, specifically concerning funds allocated for road maintenance and rehabilitation.
His public campaigns for accountability have resonated with voters who feel shortchanged by years of underdevelopment. “He is not afraid to ask the tough questions,” shared Robert Ogwal, a boda-boda rider in Namasale Town Council. “When leaders knew Adupa was watching, they became more careful. We need that same vigilance in Parliament.”
Campaign insiders emphasize that Adupa’s strategy is built on a foundation of listening to the people. “He has the people in his heart,” said his campaign manager, Ms. Grace Apio. “He doesn’t just hear; he listens and acts accordingly. His manifesto is a direct response to the concerns raised at the grassroots level.”
This approach has cultivated a strong base of trust across the county. Voters in sub-counties including Nalubwoyo, Agwingiri, Muntu, Acii, Namasale, and the Amolatar Town Council have expressed strong support, believing his election will translate into tangible development.
“We have trusted others with our vote and seen little in return. Adupa is different. With his connections in Kampala and his heart in Amolatar, we will finally see our roads improved, our health centers stocked, and our youth employed,” said a hopeful resident of Nalubwoyo Sub-county.
As the nomination date approaches, the political atmosphere in Kioga County is one of anticipation. The formal nomination of Felix Adupa Ongwech on October 22nd is expected to be a coronation of sorts, setting the stage for a campaign that promises to blend strong party machinery with a populist message of development and accountability.
