Rubanda District Woman MP aspirant Jacqueline Katabazi has strongly condemned the practice of voter bribery, calling politicians who engage in it “enemies of development.”
Speaking during campaign rallies on June 23 in Kagunga and Kishanje Parishes, Bufundi Sub-county, Katabazi urged voters to reject such candidates at the ballot box.
She blamed the area’s slow development on vote-buying, which she said results in ineffective representation in Parliament.
“When you sell your vote, you sell your future,” she told residents. “This is why we continue to lack services that matter most.”
Katabazi promised to put healthcare at the center of her legislative agenda if elected. She pledged to redirect funds normally allocated for Members of Parliament’s luxury vehicles toward:
-
Purchasing ambulances for both Rubanda West and East,
-
Distributing maternity kits, and
-
Supplying essential medical equipment.
She highlighted the hardships expectant mothers face in accessing timely and affordable care, noting that emergency services are critically under-resourced in the district.
In addition to healthcare, Katabazi vowed to advocate for government support programs aimed at boosting local farmers and households.
These would include grain distribution and other forms of agricultural support to enhance food security and rural incomes.
