The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has stepped up internal mobilisation in the Greater Mukono sub-region as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni prepares to campaign in Buikwe and Mukono tomorrow.

Senior party officials say the renewed push follows concerns over low voter turnout and relatively weak electoral performance in the area during previous elections. The party leadership believes stronger grassroots organisation is needed to improve participation and support.

NRM Director for Mobilisation, Rosemary Sseninde, has directed Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and District Internal Security Officers (DISOs) to take a more active role in rallying communities ahead of the President’s visit. She emphasised the need for better coordination between party structures, local leaders, and security agencies.

Sseninde noted that attendance at several recent presidential rallies in other parts of the country fell below expectations. She attributed this to weak mobilisation at the grassroots level and gaps in planning and communication.

Party officials in Mukono and Buikwe have since intensified meetings with local leaders, youth groups, women’s representatives, and opinion leaders to ensure large turnouts and orderly events during the President’s engagements.

President Museveni’s campaign stops in Buikwe and Mukono are expected to focus on government programmes, economic development, and mobilisation of party supporters as preparations for the upcoming elections continue.
