Kole, Uganda – Kole North Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti, is fully set for another landslide victory, after thousands of constituents endorsed his second-term bid during Uganda’s 63rd Independence Day celebrations.

Dr. Acuti, who garnered an overwhelming 94.6% win during the NRM primaries, is widely expected to secure a resounding victory in the 2026 general elections. His support was clearly demonstrated as thousands of men and women turned out to endorse him at seven (7) different Independence Day events held across the constituency.

These celebrations featured traditional dances, fun games, and a women’s football competition, attracting participants from all 27 parishes and wards in Kole North County.

Community Praise and Achievements

Speaking to our reporter, many attendees praised Hon. Dr. Acuti for his transformative leadership and remarkable development record. Among his widely lauded achievements are:

  • Three donated ambulances, enhancing emergency healthcare services.
  • A constituency ambulance lobbied from the Ministry of Health.
  • A skilling program that has trained over 1,000 out-of-school youth in tailoring, motorcycle repair, building and construction, hairdressing, and carpentry.

Dr. Acuti’s effective lobbying has also led to:

  • Rural electrification in several areas.
  • Medical equipment worth UGX 2 billion received for local health facilities.
  • Construction and upgrading of two Health Centre IIIs.
  • A UGX 440 million crop insurance payout.
  • Receipt of over 1,000 iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister.
  • Tarmacking of the Lira–Kole–Kamdini Road.

His strong parliamentary representation and articulate advocacy have further cemented his popularity among the electorate, as he continues to raise critical issues affecting Kole North.

Electoral Performance

During the NRM primaries, Dr. Acuti secured 21,254 votes, defeating his main contender in the upcoming race, Hon. Alyek Judith, who had earlier contested in the Woman MP race. She managed 11,005 votes in the District Woman MP NRM primaries, coming a distant second.

Voter Sentiment

Most residents interviewed expressed strong support for Dr. Acuti, with many contrasting his performance against that of Hon. Alyek Judith, who served as District Woman MP for a decade.

“Dr. Opio Acuti’s achievements in just four years have quadrupled Alyek Judith’s in ten. We will overwhelmingly vote for him,” said Grace Akello, a beneficiary of the crop insurance initiative.

Michael, another voter, added: “Hon. Alyek Judith’s excuse that the district was too large for her to perform is baseless. Other Woman MPs in larger districts are delivering results. If she fails again as a constituency MP, will she then contest as an LC3? She has failed us. We are happy with Dr. Acuti’s performance.”

With widespread support and a proven track record, Hon. Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti is well on course for a commanding victory in Kole North during the upcoming 2026 general elections.
