President Yoweri Museveni has reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to industrialization and value addition after commissioning the DEI Group Advanced Agro-Processing Park and a new starch manufacturing plant in Busambo, Namasagali. The launch marks another major step in strengthening the country’s manufacturing base and creating more opportunities for farmers and local communities.
Together with First Lady Maama Janet Museveni, the President toured the facilities and applauded project developer Mr. Magoola for his innovation and perseverance. Museveni noted that Magoola’s journey—from early research on traditional malaria remedies in Matuuga to establishing modern factories—reflects the kind of homegrown enterprise that is driving Uganda’s wealth creation agenda.
He also appreciated the international partners, including collaborators from the United States, who have supported the project’s development.
The event further celebrated the long-standing cooperation between Uganda and the People’s Republic of China. As part of the ceremony, the President flagged off Uganda’s first container of chili destined for the Chinese market—an export breakthrough expected to widen market access for local farmers and earn the country additional revenue.
Later, at his second rally in Kamuli District, President Museveni thanked residents for their warm reception. He highlighted peace and stability as the NRM’s greatest achievements over the past 40 years, explaining that a secure environment has enabled the kind of economic progress seen today.
The President also revisited the message of wealth creation, emphasizing the importance of the four-acre model introduced in the 1996 NRM manifesto. He encouraged families with small landholdings to adopt this approach to boost household income and take advantage of the expanding agro-processing industry.
With new factories, growing export markets, and sustained peace, the President noted that Uganda’s industrial drive continues to push the nation toward greater prosperity.
