Uganda’s greatest strength lies in its people, especially the youth, Col Edith Nakalema, the Presidential Advisor on Anti-Corruption and Head of SHIPU, has said.
Col Nakalema was speaking to more than 10,000 young people attending the South Rwenzori Diocese Youth Conference in Kasese District.
She told the youth that life is guided by five key principles: obedience, teamwork, readiness, flexibility and time.
“Life is anchored on five principles: obedience, teamwork, readiness, flexibility and time. Obey guidance, work together, stay prepared, embrace positive change and always value time, because it never comes back,” Col Nakalema said.
She added that as the country moves on from 2025, Ugandans should remain grounded in faith and unity.
“As we let go of 2025, we put on the full armour of God. With these principles, Uganda will stand firm in peace and stability in Christ,” she said.
Col Nakalema also encouraged the youth to see themselves as key contributors to the country’s future.
“You are the greatest investors of this country because you are investing in the future of this country,” she told the gathering.
“Whatever His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Maama Janet Museveni are doing is for you. They want to see you become great leaders.”
She emphasized that the President and the First Lady have created various avenues to skill and empower young people and urged them to safeguard peace and stability in the nation, especially as the country prepares for elections.
The Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, welcomed Col Nakalema to Kasese and thanked her for her continued contribution to Uganda’s development and for sharing what he described as “fruitful words” with the youth.
“I pray that all of you put on the helmet of salvation,” Bishop Baluku said, as he also prayed for Uganda’s unity, stability and lasting peace.
Several leaders and guests attended the conference, including Rtd. Bishop Emeritus Zabedi Masereka of South Rwenzori Diocese and Presidential Advisor for the Western Region, Maama Stella Masereka, the SOMA UK missionary team, members of the clergy, Kasese District LC5 Chairperson Mr Eliphaz Muhindi, Kasese Municipality MP Hon. Ferigo Kambale, the Diocesan Secretary, the Provincial Youth and Children Coordinator, and more than 6,000 youth drawn from across the diocese.
The South Rwenzori Diocese Youth Conference continues to serve as a platform for faith, dialogue and nation-building among young Ugandans.
