Police in Bushenyi are investigating a suspected suicide case that occurred in Kyabumbeire Cell, Ruharo Ward, Central Division, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Rwabazungu Francis, a 54-year-old farmer. His body was discovered hanging from a rope in his kitchen by his wife, Jetulida Kyobuhwezi, on the evening of Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
According to the wife, she had left home at around 10 AM to attend prayers, leaving her husband with their disabled daughter. Upon her return, she was shocked to find her husband’s lifeless body hanging in the kitchen.
She immediately alerted neighbors, relatives, and LC1 Chairman Elias Byaruhanga, who subsequently reported the incident to Bushenyi Central Police Station (CPS).
Police detectives responded to the scene, conducted an examination, documented evidence, and recorded statements from witnesses.
The deceased’s body was transported to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing.
