Kimanya-Kabonera MP Abed Bwanika has intensified his criticism of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya. On his X page, Bwanika cautioned NUP’s grassroots supporters, referred to as foot soldiers, to be wary of Rubongoya.
He claimed that he would take them down one by one since he is the one who recruited them. Bwanika further stated that he orchestrated everything these foot soldiers do and therefore is intimately familiar with them.
Moreover, he mentioned that he recognizes them through photographs and videos and is responsible for their apprehensions.
“Foot soldiers, be careful with this man. He will finish you one by one.
He gathered you
Dressed you in overalls with pampers and expensive desert boots.
Identified you using pictures and videos.
Now, He is facilitating to arrest you,” said Bwanika.
This is not the first occasion that the former presidential candidate has criticized Rubongoya, labeling him as a fabricated Museveni informant. This stems from the fact that Rubongoya was raised in the household of the first family and received state education, as his late father was a close associate of the President.
Rubongoya, who was a lecturer for Bobi Wine, partnered with the former Kyadondo East MP to establish the People Power movement, which later evolved into NUP. Nevertheless, some skeptics question his genuineness and commitment to the cause, believing he cannot simply pivot away from Museveni.
This week has witnessed multiple raids and apprehensions of NUP members, including Fred Nyanzi, the party’s head of Mobilization, and Bobi Wine’s brother. Meanwhile, Rubongoya is preparing to contest for Parliament in the upcoming elections as NUP’s candidate for Kampala Central.
