Kampala, Uganda – Adupa Ongwech Felix, a recent winner in the NRM primary elections, has vehemently refuted claims questioning his academic credentials, labeling them as a smear campaign orchestrated by his political opponents.
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) recently responded to a verification request from Bashaasha & Co. Advocates, stating that the name “Adupa Ongwech Felix” did not match their records for the 2010 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examination.
According to UNEB, the true candidate was listed as Samyu Celement. However, the Board clarified that it does not verify the identity of candidates, leaving room for further scrutiny.
“This is pure blackmail,”Adupa declared during a telephone interview. “My opponents are desperate to tarnish my name because they lost the primary election. I have all my academic documents intact, and I am ready to present them before the NRM tribunal for verification.”
Adupa also called out Col. John Francise Ongia, one of his rivals, urging him to await the official NRM tribunal hearing rather than resorting to media sensationalism. “Instead of running to the media, let Col. Ongia respect the party’s internal processes. Such tactics are common in politics, but I will not be intimidated,” he asserted.
Political analysts suggest that the timing of the allegations raises suspicions, coming just weeks after Adupa’s victory in the NRM primaries. Supporters have rallied behind him, dismissing the claims as a last-ditch effort to undermine his candidacy.
As the NRM tribunal prepares to hear the petition, Adupa remains confident, vowing to prove his detractors wrong. “I am focused on serving my people. This distraction will not derail my mission,”he concluded.
The public now awaits the tribunal’s verdict, which could either solidify Adupa’s position or fuel further political drama in the lead-up to the general elections.
