Airtel Africa CEO Olusegun Ogunsanya to Retire

Airtel Africa plc has officially disclosed the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer, Olusegun “Segun” Ogunsanya, effective July 1, 2024.

Mr. Ogunsanya, a veteran leader who joined Airtel in 2012 and served as the head of Nigeria Operations for nine years, assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Group in 2021. With a profound understanding of the African landscape and extensive distribution expertise, he played a pivotal role in sustaining double-digit revenue growth for several quarters. During his tenure, Airtel Africa introduced innovative products, enriching the experience for customers across the continent.




The company has named Sunil Taldar as the incoming Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, slated to succeed Mr. Ogunsanya upon his retirement. Mr. Taldar, who joined Airtel Africa in October 2023 as the Director of Transformation, will undergo a transition period, working closely with Mr. Ogunsanya. Subsequently, on July 1, 2024, Mr. Taldar will be appointed as an Executive Director and assume the responsibilities of CEO.
