Taxi hailing company, Bolt, has adjusted its prices in response to the recent review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). The adjustments affect fares across all bands in Nairobi, including the economy, base, boda, and XL categories. The base fare will now range from Sh70 to Sh100, and the minimum fare has been increased to a range of Sh200 to Sh250 across these categories.
Bolt’s country manager, Linda Ndungu, stated that these changes are a response to the challenging macroeconomic factors affecting the public transport sector, including the recent fuel price hike by EPRA. Additionally, Bolt has raised per-kilometer pricing and introduced a long-distance rate as part of these adjustments.
The company aims to mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs and maintain its commitment to providing competitive earnings for drivers while remaining a cost-effective choice for customers.
These pricing changes will be applied across all categories in several Kenyan cities, including Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega, Nakuru, Naivasha, and the Mt. Kenya region.
In September, the Kenya Matatu Owners Association also announced fare increases due to the spike in petrol and diesel prices.
