Former Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Abdi Guliye was seen at a State House event in Nakuru on October 11, 2023. This event featured President William Ruto engaging with stakeholders from the milk industry on various topics.

At the function, Abdi Guliye was in the company of Livestock Development Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke and Ruto’s Economic Advisor David Ndii. However, the specific role or capacity in which the former IEBC commissioner attended the meeting was not disclosed by State House.

The meeting’s primary focus was to enhance the competitiveness and expand value-added opportunities in the dairy sector, with President Ruto interacting with selected dairy farmers. President Ruto has emphasized the importance of agricultural productivity in his economic plans.

During the event, Abdi Guliye was given a front-row seat ahead of parliamentarians and other politicians who also participated. He actively contributed to the discussions, leading to an agreement by the government to distribute 650 coolers to farmers through cooperative societies. These cooperative societies will be connected to processors as part of the government’s strategy to enhance the quantity, quality, and price of milk.

Abdi Guliye had been one of three IEBC officers who declared President Ruto as the duly elected President, while four others, referred to as the Cherera four, dissented. During this period, the opposition accused Guliye and his team of colluding with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to declare Ruto as the President-elect.

On September 5, the Supreme Court cleared the commissioners of any wrongdoing and upheld President William Ruto’s victory.
