Popular Kikuyu news anchor and Inooro TV presenter, Ken Wakuraya, who is widely recognized for his prime-time news hosting, has inaugurated his very own news website, Kenlive.co.ke. The launch event took place at Sportview in Kasarani on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Wakuraya shared his vision for Kenlive.co.ke in an interview with Kenyans.co.ke, emphasizing its commitment to comprehensive news coverage across various sectors, including politics, business, and entertainment. While he mentioned his recruitment of a news team, he refrained from disclosing the exact number of journalists he intends to bring on board.

He explained, “It is a news website. The goal is to cover all news ranging from politics. It is going to be different from any other website out there. Right now, we are recruiting.”

Kenlive.co.ke boasts a modest design, with a prominent “Trending” section and a maroon background featuring a logo reminiscent of his TV brand. Additionally, the website is linked to Wakuraya’s personal YouTube page, which provides insights into his career and has garnered 28,000 subscribers.

When asked about his absence from television screens, estimated by his fans to be around three months, Wakuraya declined to confirm whether he had parted ways with his employer, Inooro TV, a subsidiary of Royal Media Services. Earlier reports on blogs had hinted at differences with his superiors within the media company.

Wakuraya’s journey in the media industry began with acting immediately after completing his high school education. However, due to low pay, he abandoned acting and ventured into selling second-hand clothing (Mitumba). After working in a pharmacy, he later returned to acting with a role in the TV series “Tahidi High” before eventually securing a position at Inooro TV after its launch.
