Felix Koskei, Chief of Staff to President William Ruto, suggested the possibility of a political agreement between Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga during a Thanksgiving Service at St. Luke ACK Church Ndara Koluoch in Asembo, Siaya County. Koskei, a trusted ally of Ruto, indicated that there might be a forthcoming understanding between the two prominent leaders.

Koskei, acknowledging their past collaboration, emphasized that there was no compelling reason to prevent Ruto and Raila from working together. He highlighted the historical connection between Nyanza and Rift Valley, implying that the union of these leaders was almost inevitable.

During his address, Koskei did not elaborate extensively due to his official role but implied that the audience understood the context of his statement. He also pointed out President Ruto’s directive to government officials to promote development in all regions without bias, emphasizing the government’s increasing presence in the region as evidenced by the President’s visit and a cabinet meeting held in Kisumu.

Koskei’s comments are part of Ruto’s efforts to build rapport in the Nyanza region during his recent meet-the-people tour. Ruto expressed his previous support for Raila and called upon him to reciprocate that support for the 2027 election.

In response, Raila stated that Ruto’s appeal would not lead him to abandon Azimio Coalition members, including Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka. Raila emphasized their history of working together since the KANU regime and affirmed that either he or Kalonzo would be on the 2027 ballot to challenge Ruto.
