General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces, met with a delegation from the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) led by Major General Vincent Nyakarundi, the RDF Army Chief of Staff in Kampala.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs in Mbuya, centered on discussions about security matters both bilaterally and regionally.
According to a statement from the CDF’s office, these discussions are part of the ongoing security dialogues between Uganda and Rwanda, emphasizing the importance of communication and collaboration between the two countries.
Key attendees included Major General James Birungi, the Chief of Defense Intelligence and Security (DIS), indicating the depth of engagement on security issues.
General Kainerugaba, who also holds the position of Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, has been actively involved in efforts to enhance relations between Uganda and Rwanda. This includes numerous meetings with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, both in Uganda and Rwanda, showcasing the commitment to diplomatic relations at the highest levels.
