Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), arrived at Kigali International Airport today. His visit comes ahead of President Paul Kagame’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Sunday. Gen Kainerugaba was received with courtesy by his Rwandan counterpart, Gen Mubarak Muganga, along with other senior officers from the Rwandan Defence Forces (RDF).

Gen Kainerugaba is accompanied by Maj Gen James Birungi and Brig Gen Richard Karemire. His entourage also includes notable figures Alexander Akandwanaho and Andrew Mwenda.

During his visit to Kigali, Gen Kainerugaba, who also serves as Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, is anticipated to hold important discussions with President Kagame and Gen Muganga.
