The National Election Authority (NEA) in Egypt officially announced on Monday that President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has won the 2024 presidential election, securing 89.6 percent of the valid votes. The NEA revealed this information during a press conference held in the capital city, Cairo. The overall voter turnout stood at 66.8 percent, involving 67 million eligible voters.
The voting process took place within Egypt from December 10 to 12, while Egyptians living abroad exercised their voting rights between December 1 and December 3 across 121 countries. The NEA highlighted the participation of four candidates in the presidential race, including incumbent President Sisi, Farid Zahran from the Social Democratic Party, Abdel-Sanad Yamama from the Al-Wafd Party, and Hazem Omar representing the People’s Republican Party.
