Recently, President Yoweri K Museveni played host to a delegation of African parliamentarians at State House Entebbe, marking the conclusion of their second African Inter-Parliamentary Conference. The conference centered around discussions on the values and sovereignty of Africa, addressing key issues pertinent to the continent’s progress and development.

In his role as a guide and leader, President Museveni highlighted two primary challenges that Africa must confront in order to assert its sovereignty effectively. Firstly, he underscored the issue of greed and selfishness exhibited by foreign powers in their interactions with the African continent. This exploitation often manifests in unequal trade relations, resource extraction, and economic imbalances, posing significant obstacles to Africa’s autonomy and self-determination.

Secondly, President Museveni emphasized the importance of addressing internal weaknesses that leave African nations vulnerable to exploitation. These internal challenges include disunity among African countries, lack of effective governance structures, and inadequate mechanisms for protecting national interests. By tackling these internal issues, African nations can strengthen their resilience against external pressures and safeguard their sovereignty.
