Kampala, Uganda — African Youth Ambassador Luyimbaazi Issah Katungulu has issued a strong condemnation of recent United States military actions in Venezuela, describing them as a violation of international law and an assault on the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic.
In a formal communication addressed to H.E. Fatima Yesenia Fernandes Juárez, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Uganda, Katungulu expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela following reports of U.S. intervention and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
Katungulu described the development as “state terrorism” and warned that such unilateral military operations threaten global stability and undermine the international order established after World War II.
“Failure to act decisively against such violations is tantamount to inviting anarchy and normalising the use of force as the main form of international engagement,” he warned, noting that unchecked aggression could push the world back to a pre-United Nations era marked by conflict and instability.
He reaffirmed what he termed as Africa’s solidarity with the people of Venezuela, stressing the continent’s commitment to principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and self-determination.
The Ambassador expressed confidence that Venezuelans would remain united and resilient in safeguarding their independence and national interests while continuing on their path of development.
Katungulu concluded his statement by urging the international community, particularly global bodies responsible for peace and security, to take a firm stand against actions that threaten the sovereignty of nations.
The statement adds to growing global reactions to the situation in Venezuela, with calls for restraint, adherence to international law, and protection of constitutional governance.
