The political atmosphere in Agago North County will not remain the same again as a hardworking NRM cadre and health expert joins the political arena with great support from voters of Agago North Constituency.
Academically, Dr. Oyet William Sam has obtained two master’s degrees, one bachelor’s degree, two postgraduate diplomas, and is a PhD candidate at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Kenya.
According to Dr. Oyet William, in an interview with The Ankole Times Newspaper on Easter Monday, Agago North Constituency needs a new leader who is able to lobby and correctly coordinate government programs with the wanainchi. Currently, he is at home coordinating the “Dero Kwan Roco-Paco” program, and his ambition to be the MP of Agago North Constituency as an NRM candidate has gained momentum and overwhelming support from the community. This is because of his medical profession and background that have earned him a good track record and popularity.
Among the notable problems he will tackle once voted into the 12th Parliament is the issue of insecurity being caused by the Karamojong cattle rustlers. This needs real and proper coordination with the government to address, since it has become a serious problem along the borderline of Agago North—examples include Omiya-Pacwa, Paimol, Lapono, Lira Kato, and Adilang in Agago County, as well as parts of Abim and sub-counties bordering Kitgum District.
“I have the intellectual capacity and I am the potential replacement for the Agago North Constituency seat in the 13th Parliament, for better socio-economic transformation and wealth creation through health, education, and agriculture,” said Oyet.
“I was the one who worked very hard during the Nodding Disease pandemic in Northern Uganda, and that was why H.E. the President assigned and gave an aircraft for spraying blackflies for vector control,” stated Oyet.
He was recognized by H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda twice when he visited Pader District—both in Angagura Sub-county and, at the time, Pajule Sub-county (now Pajule Town Council)—for his (Oyet’s) unwavering contribution in the fight against Nodding Disease and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
This made many people in Pader, Agago, and Kitgum recognize Dr. Oyet as a real leader who can work tirelessly without any segregation.
