The conflict of the Kalenjin speaking tribes in Uganda Pokot of Amudat in Karamoja and Sabiny of Mt Elgon in Uganda may cost the seats of the current members of parliament after the community realising that their members of parliament are not in any help.

The district is currently being represented by Mr. Michal Lolem Akathile and Betty Chelain Louke as the district woman member of parliament.

The locals are saying ever since the Sabiny block the Pokot pastoralists from crossing to graze their livestock in Sebei, their MPs have been so silent especially Mr. Michal Lolem although the woman member of parliament had been trying.

The pastoralists have started now to wander as to why during the time when Mr Kipterit Christopher Akorikimoe Dolar man was a member of parliament all these confusion was not there.

They promised to overwhelmingly give a lot of support to Mr. Dollar Man to return to Parliament in order to salvage the situation.

Mr. Paul Louse one of the pastoralists said no one has ever bothered to hear the side of the Pokot community instead everyone listens to one side the Sabiny.

“Government should listen to our side also because everyone is listening one side story about the Pokots being bad people,”he said.

He also wandered ad to why the two RDCs of Bukwo and Kween spoke as if they are not the national leaders.

“Instead of them being a solution to the problem they instead become the conflict promoters forgetting that at one point they will be brought to Amudat district,” he said.

Mark Ruto another resident said the silence of their members of parliament especially Male member of parliament is just for buying favor from the security forces who are now against the Pokot community.

Pokot and Sabiny community are currently not seeing an eye after the Sabiny blocked the Pokot pastoralists from crossing to graze their livestock in Sebei land.

In retaliation, the Pokot community also gave an ultimatum of two days to all the Sabiny-speaking tribe members working in various offices of Amudat district to leave the district within two days.

Many teachers and business premises owned by Sabiny individuals were shut down, and they fled the district. Speaking to the media, Mr. Michepon urged those who left Amudat district, especially teachers, to go back and continue with their normal duties.
