“I urge the people of Alebtong district to use the seven-day extension to go and update their particulars to be eligible voters,” stated ARDC Lameck.

The ARDC of Alebtong district, Mr. Ongom Lameck, has urged the people of Alebtong district to take advantage of the Electoral Commission’s extension of the deadline to register in time.

He said the exercise will enable registered voters to check and confirm that their particulars are correct and appear on the Voters Register at the voting locations they indicated during registration.

However, Lameck noted that they have also received reports of some challenges that have affected the pace of the update exercise, notably, the low turnout of people in Alebtong district, hence causing delays in the overall exercise.

As you may be aware, some key stakeholders in the electoral process have requested that more time be given to the Update Exercise for comprehensive coverage of eligible citizens who should be registered for voting.

According to Commissioner Lameck, taking into account the Electoral Commission’s observations in the field and assessment, as well as appeals from stakeholders, among other reasons, they have decided to extend the Update Exercise for seven (7) days, starting on Tuesday, February 11th, and ending Monday, February 17th, 2025, after which there will be no further extension.

It is, therefore, my request that our people in Moroto County and Ajuri County turn up in great numbers to meet the deadline.

During the extension, the exercise will continue to be conducted at update stations from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm every day, including weekends like Saturdays and Sundays.

He said the purpose of this extension is to provide an opportunity for eligible persons who have not been able to register between January 20th, 2025, and February 10th, 2025, to do so. For emphasis, we wish to inform the public to note the following:

This is not a fresh registration of voters but an exercise to enable Ugandan citizens who have attained the age of 18 years and above and who have not yet registered to do so, to participate in the elections.

In conclusion, the ARDC appeals to all eligible persons who are not yet registered as voters, and those who wish to apply for a transfer of their voting locations, to use the opportunity provided by this seven-day extension to participate in the 2026 General Elections.
