Four She-Cranes players are in Malaysia to undergo evaluations for potential professional opportunities with prominent clubs in the Malaysian Netball Super League.

This development occurs shortly after the She-Cranes achieved the title of the best team in Africa, thanks to their remarkable performance in the recent Netball World Cup, just two months ago.

The four invited players consist of the KCCA Netball duo, Shadia Ssegujja Nassanga and Shaffie Nalwanja, who are presently associated with KL Wildcats, as well as Faridah Kadondi from Makindye Weyonje and last season’s top scorer, Christine Namulumba, both affiliated with the Perak Phoenix. However, as of now, these four athletes who departed the country last month are yet to secure professional contracts.

According to a source, “The two clubs have planned several pre-season activities and wish to assess these players before the season commences. Nonetheless, there’s a significant possibility that the four players may eventually sign professional contracts if they reach agreements with their respective clubs.”

Once they sign these professional contracts, they will join a growing group of Ugandan netball talents who have made the transition to professional netball beyond Uganda.

In September, it was reported that She-Cranes player Hanisha Muhameed had joined Bartercard Surrey Storm Netball Club in the United Kingdom’s Super League just a few weeks after the conclusion of the Netball World Cup.

Additional professional players include Peace Proscovia, currently in the United Kingdom, Mary Cholhok Nuba, who plies her trade with the Loughborough Lightning Netball Club, and Stellah Oyella, representing the Strathclyde Sirens Netball Club in Scotland.

Furthermore, sources indicate that several other She-Cranes stars have attracted interest from professional clubs outside Uganda, and negotiations are reportedly in progress for more players to take the leap into the professional ranks.
