Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi, a Ugandan-born heart doctor living in Australia, has died at the age of 68. His wife, Mayimuna Nakayiira Kiyingi, shared the sad news on social media, saying he “peacefully departed from our lives.”

Dr. Kiyingi was previously accused of killing his lawyer wife, Robinah Kiyingi, in 2005. She was shot several times in her car in front of their home. However, in December 2006, the Kampala High Court acquitted him of this charge, stating that the prosecutors did not have enough evidence to prove his guilt.

Mayimuna Nakayiira Kiyingi described her late husband as a loving father and a wonderful friend, whose presence brought joy and warmth to their lives. Details about his funeral and memorial services will be provided later.

Dr. Kiyingi married Mayimuna in 2009, four years after his first wife’s tragic death. His acquittal in 2006 marked the end of a highly publicized trial in Uganda, where he had been accused of murdering his prominent anti-corruption advocate wife.
