Nebbi, Uganda — Several passengers sustained injuries early Wednesday morning after a Baby Coach bus veered off the road and overturned in Vulu Vulu village, Ulagu Parish, Padwot Sub-County, Nebbi District.
The bus was en route from Kampala to Arua when the incident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle lost control and landed on its side. Photos shared on social media show the bus lying off the roadway with significant damage to the front windshield.
Padwot Sub-County LCIII Chairperson Denis Opio confirmed the incident, stating:
“No fatalities were reported, but several passengers sustained injuries and were promptly transported to nearby health facilities for treatment.”
The Nebbi crash follows another recent accident involving a Baby Coach bus in Nwoya District, sparking renewed public concern about safety in Uganda’s passenger transport sector.
This latest incident highlights persistent challenges facing Uganda’s road safety systems, especially for long-distance buses operating on major inter-district routes.
According to the Uganda Police Force’s Annual Crime Report for 2024, road traffic crashes increased by 6.4%, with 25,107 incidents reported compared to 23,608 in 2023. Fatal crashes rose by 6.1%, with 4,434 incidents recorded.
