Bishop Prof. Alfred Olwa of Lango Diocese has urged salon owners and operators to change their ways and adopt morally upright practices in their businesses. Prof. Olwa noted that there is a lot of backbiting in salons and encouraged them to refrain from such behavior, urging instead that they focus on saying and doing things that benefit the children of God.
He made these remarks while addressing hundreds of believers during a confirmation and dedication prayer for Namasale Technical School students on Wednesday. The Bishop also highlighted the issue of dishonesty in some garages, where individuals steal spare parts from vehicles and motorcycles meant for clients, leading to mistrust from customers.
In his message, Bishop Olwa also pointed out that some men in salons wear earrings, which he described as an abomination before God and morally inappropriate. He stressed that vocational schools and technical institutions should instill good morals in students so they can become role models in the community. Similarly, he emphasized that those working as mechanics in garages must ensure that vehicles are safe, exhibit discipline, and maintain trust with clients who bring their vehicles for repairs.
Angwech Collins, the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Governors at Namasale Technical School, commended the school’s new headteacher, Canon Moses Ogwal, for his hard work in making the school stand out across the Lango sub-region.
Canon Moses Ogwal, the headteacher of Namasale Technical School and recently elected clan chief of Atek Olimakwanga, expressed his gratitude to Bishop Olwa, the parents/guardians, the Board of Governors, the teachers, and the students for joining the dedication prayer. He urged everyone to continue working closely with the school administration to ensure its success and development.
Canon Ogwal shared that while he has not been at the school for long, he expects significant progress in the coming months, despite the few challenges the school is currently facing.
Nam Eve, the female youth councilor for Amolatar District, encouraged the students to work hard for the betterment of their futures. Nam Eve, who is also aspiring for the position of Amolatar Woman MP under the UPC ticket for the 2026-2031 term, urged the students to be determined and focused on their goals.
