Opposition leader Bobi Wine released a fiery video statement denouncing the oppressive taxation policies imposed by the government. As protests erupt among the business community over exorbitant taxes, Wine’s message rings clear: solidarity with the oppressed is paramount.

Pointing a finger directly at the government’s egregious misuse of taxpayer funds, Wine lambasted the system for channeling the bulk of collected taxes towards the lavish lifestyles of President Museveni, his inner circle, and their cronies. He didn’t mince words, highlighting how this diversion of funds to luxurious indulgences while the populace suffers reeks of injustice and immorality.

Wine didn’t stop there. He underscored the insidious role of corruption in further bleeding the nation dry. With a scathing tone, he condemned the unchecked corruption that devours significant portions of public funds, leaving essential services deprived and citizens struggling.

In a rallying cry to the masses, Wine emphasized the collective responsibility to support the protesting traders. He stressed that their battle against high taxes isn’t isolated but resonates with every Ugandan. The ripple effect of high taxes manifests in soaring commodity prices, burdening every citizen and exacerbating the already precarious economic situation.

Taking aim at the preferential treatment given to foreign investors, Wine decried the unfair competition they pose to local traders. He highlighted the irony of foreign entities engaging in retail trade and petty hawking while local entrepreneurs grapple with stifling regulations and burdensome taxes.

Wine didn’t shy away from highlighting the layers of taxation strangling Ugandan businesses. He criticized not just double but triple and quadruple taxation, painting a grim picture of an environment where the government’s insatiable appetite for revenue cripples the entrepreneurial spirit and stifles economic growth.

In standing with the protesting traders, Wine amplifies their voices, demanding accountability, transparency, and fair treatment from the government. His bold stance resonates with a populace weary of oppressive policies and rampant corruption, igniting hope for change and justice in the face of adversity.
