(Austin, Texas) – Tesla’s Robotaxi Revolution Set for 2025

Tesla is set to introduce a driverless taxi service in Austin, Texas, by mid-2025, marking a significant step in autonomous transportation. The company also plans to unveil its Optimus humanoid robot and ramp up production of cyber taxis by 2026.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that the company will deploy its first fleet of self-driving robot taxis on public roads in June 2025, beginning in Austin, Texas. The tech giant will also release a prototype of its Optimus humanoid robot later this year, aiming for full-scale production of autonomous “cybertaxis” in 2026.

Musk emphasized that Tesla’s investments in manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and robotics throughout 2024 will yield significant results in the coming years. He expressed confidence in a major leap forward in AI, which will enhance self-driving capabilities and help Tesla regain momentum after a challenging 2024.

“In 2024, we made a lot of important investments in manufacturing, AI, and robotics that will bear huge fruit in the future… to a scale that is hard to fathom. We are building production lines in preparation for what I think will be an epic 2026 and a ridiculous 27 and 28,” Musk stated.

Tesla, currently the world’s eighth-largest company, has seen a sharp rise in valuation, particularly after Musk’s $250 million contribution to Donald Trump’s re-election campaign. His close ties to the White House have granted him an influential role in shaping U.S. policy and regulations.

Despite Tesla’s ambitious outlook, analysts remain cautious. Dan Levy of Barclays noted that while Tesla has signaled a return to growth in car production, the company has refrained from setting clear targets, unlike Musk’s previous projections of 20–30% growth. “The fourth quarter was a ‘comeback to earth’ moment for Tesla shares, which were increasingly disconnected from fundamentals,” Levy commented.
