dfcu Bank and Ekibiina Ky’olulimi Oluganda (EKO), a body within Buganda Kingdom promoting Luganda language, have joined forces to advance education initiatives in the Buganda region. The partnership, announced at a media briefing in Mengo, aims to bring together various stakeholders, including school proprietors, parents, and learners, to improve the quality of education.
Brian Katamba, Sector Head of Education and Health at dfcu Bank, emphasized the collaboration’s alignment with the Ministry of Education and Sports’ mission of “Quality Education for All.” The partnership, following a similar initiative in May 2023, seeks to ensure that schools within Buganda Kingdom offer high-quality education and that such educational opportunities are accessible to all parents and students.
The collaborative effort includes organizing the Buganda Education Skills Expo, scheduled to take place from January 26 to January 28, 2024, at Lubiri Grounds and from February 2 to February 4, 2024, in Masaka. The expo aims to bridge the gap between schools, parents, financial institutions like dfcu Bank, and school proprietors. Brian Katamba emphasized the role of dfcu Bank in supporting parents with financial solutions to address school fees deficits.
Grace Nansubuga Lubowa, the Acting Chairperson of EKO, commended dfcu Bank for the partnership, highlighting its potential to strengthen ties between stakeholders and improve education in the Kingdom. Anthony Wamala, a Minister in the Buganda Kingdom, expressed optimism about the partnership’s growth and urged continued commitment to its success.
He appreciated dfcu Bank for playing a crucial role in facilitating cooperation among school suppliers, proprietors, parents, and learners to enhance education in the region.
