Obongi Emyooga Restaurant Owner Becomes a Billionaire” November 29, 2023 Obongi

One of the Obongi Emyooga Restaurant business operators is transforming her life with numerous success stories stemming from the funds she acquired through the Emyooga programs. Lukia Dilinga, a 46-year-old member of the Obongi Constituency Restaurant Owners SACCO, borrowed 10 million shillings in three installments from the Emyooga SACCO’s group account. She is now experiencing financial breakthrough and success in her booming business within a short period in Obongi District.

According to her, she initially opened a restaurant selling only local food, earning over 300,000/= daily. After three years, she constructed a six-door commercial house, each being rented at 100,000 shillings monthly, resulting in a total monthly income of 600,000/=.

Lukia, a single mother abandoned by her husband when her three children were young, expressed resilience during her lonely life. One of her children has completed Senior Six (S.6), while the other has recently finished S4. Lukia credited her transformation to the Emyooga group SACCOs, acknowledging the positive impact it has had on her life, turning her into a landlady.

She proudly shared that her children are now studying in better schools, with Lukia covering their fees in boarding schools in Kampala and Arua. She plans to invest further by buying animals and opening another restaurant to enhance her wealth.

Expressing gratitude, Lukia thanked Minister Kasolo and His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda for initiating the Emyooga program, rescuing her from the grip of poverty in Obongi District. She emphasized her newfound independence, being able to eat meat, employ her workers, and being her boss without relying on others for financial assistance.

Encouraging single mothers not to lose hope, Lukia highlighted that success is attainable by participating in government programs like Emyooga. She urged everyone to invest in PDM and Emyooga programs for a positive change in their status, from dependence to becoming landowners in the future.

Obongi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, urged the public to emulate the good investment example set by Lukia Dilinga, a beneficiary of Emyooga, who has now become a real success story in Obongi District and the whole Northern Uganda. Hashaka mentioned that Lukia’s daughter, Bear Zuria, has completed her S4 at St. Mary’s Ejoke Girls SS and aspires to become an engineer in the near future.
