Today, a half-day workshop is taking place at Desert Breeze Hotel in Arua. The workshop aims to gather local district authorities, stakeholders, fuel operators, and representatives from various oil marketing companies.

During the workshop, presentations will cover a range of topics. These include the licensing process for petroleum operators, adherence to petroleum laws and regulations, and field monitoring practices to ensure compliance.

One key focus of the workshop is the Fuel Marking and Quality Monitoring Program. This initiative is a collaboration between the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. Its purpose is to guarantee the quality of petroleum products across Uganda’s supply chain.

Currently, the Fuel Marking and Quality Monitoring Program is conducting a week-long fuel consumer awareness campaign in the West Nile region of Uganda. This campaign seeks to educate consumers about the importance of using high-quality fuel and understanding the standards set for petroleum products.

By bringing together various stakeholders and experts in the field, workshops like these contribute to improving the operations and standards within the petroleum industry in Uganda. They provide a platform for discussion, learning, and collaboration to ensure that petroleum products meet the necessary quality and safety requirements.

The workshop in Arua serves as a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange knowledge, address challenges, and explore opportunities for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of petroleum operations in the region. It underscores the commitment of both government agencies and industry stakeholders to uphold standards and promote transparency in the energy sector.
