The staff members of the NRM Secretariat recently participated in an enlightening session focused on financial literacy, aimed at fostering personal growth and development among employees.
Conducted as part of an induction program, the session took place at the NRM Secretariat headquarters located at Plot 10, Kyadondo Road. Professor Lawrence Ssemwogerere, a respected figure, led the session, providing valuable insights and advice on effective income management.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Ssemwogerere emphasized the importance of saving and investing in additional income streams beyond one’s salary. He highlighted that relying solely on a salary may not be sufficient to meet all financial needs and aspirations. According to him, engaging in side businesses can significantly contribute to achieving financial independence, alleviating stress related to financial burdens.
While acknowledging the potential benefits of taking loans to expand businesses, Professor Ssemwogerere cautioned against accumulating unmanageable debts. He stressed the importance of ensuring that loans are serviced responsibly to avoid adverse financial consequences.
Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, the NRM Secretary General, underscored the significance of financial literacy in managing money effectively. He urged staff members to avoid extravagant spending habits, such as investing in expensive cars, gadgets, or hosting lavish events, which could strain their finances unnecessarily.
Todwong emphasized the need to prioritize savings and cautioned against reckless spending habits, urging individuals to maximize their income for long-term financial stability. He encouraged employees to cultivate a culture of saving and prudent financial management to build a secure future.
Ambassador Barbara Nekesa, the NRM National Treasurer, echoed similar sentiments during her closing remarks. She emphasized the importance of diversifying income sources and adhering to budgetary discipline to avoid financial strain.
Nekesa emphasized the significance of living within one’s means and cautioned against excessive spending that could lead to indebtedness. She stressed the need for responsible financial planning and urged staff members to prioritize financial security.
Hon. Rosemary Seninde, the NRM Director of Mobilization, reassured staff members of the party’s commitment to their welfare through continued training and empowerment initiatives. She affirmed the party’s dedication to supporting staff members in achieving financial independence, aligning with the objectives outlined in the NRM manifesto for 2021-2026.
Notable party leaders present at the training included Hon. Emaanuel Dombo, the Director of Communication, and Counsel Awich Pollar, the Director of External Affairs.
