The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has donated UGX 300 million from his own official allowances to fund major improvements at Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School. The contribution will go towards the construction of a new classroom block and the renovation of existing structures at the school.

The cheque was officially handed over by Gen Kainerugaba’s Military Assistant, Col Christopher Muwumba, during a brief event attended by school leaders, officers from the barracks, and representatives from the education department. Col Muwumba said the support reflects the CDF’s commitment to improving welfare within the forces, especially in areas that directly affect soldiers’ families.

“This money has been personally set aside by the CDF from his official allowances. He is fulfilling his pledge to use these funds for public good and to address the needs of communities served by the UPDF,” Col Muwumba said while handing over the cheque.

He noted that Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School has for years faced challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, worn-out structures, and limited learning space. The new classroom block is expected to reduce congestion and create a better learning environment for the children of soldiers and the neighbouring community.

School administrators welcomed the donation, describing it as timely and transformative. They said some of the buildings are in need of repair, and the school population has grown beyond the available infrastructure. According to the headteacher, the renovation works will focus on roofing, classroom flooring, and improving sanitation facilities to ensure a safer environment for learners.

This initiative marks the first project under Gen Kainerugaba’s pledge to commit his official allowances to development causes. His team said more projects will follow, targeting education, health, and welfare programs in military communities across the country.

The construction and renovation works are expected to begin soon once the necessary technical assessments are completed.
