Ram Businge, aged 37, has been remanded to Luzira prison for his alleged involvement in a mercury scam amounting to Shs3.5 billion, targeting an Eritrean businessman.
Appearing before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi on Wednesday, Businge denied charges of obtaining money by false pretense from Ezra Sami.
According to the prosecution, Businge, impersonating a Kenyan national named Phillip Okello, purportedly sold 27 tons of Mercury to Sami between June 6 and 11, 2023, despite not possessing the substance.
