The Parish Development Model (PDM) fund distribution started in Kampala on Tuesday. Beneficiaries received 1 million Ugandan shillings directly on their mobile phones.

The official event happened at the USAFI Taxi Park. Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, the Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, supervised the ceremony.

People were happy to get the funds. They plan to use the money to start or grow their businesses. The PDM program is a government plan to give money to people in 98 parishes across Kampala City.

The government has already given vouchers worth 1 billion shillings for the Central Division. This shows the start of the distribution that will soon cover all five city divisions. President Museveni launched the PDM program in February 2022. The goal is to help 17.5 million people from 3.5 million households get out of poverty.
