On October 6, 2023, HW Rosemary Bareebe, the Registrar of the High Court, encouraged 134 newly enrolled advocates to embrace Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to stay updated with the latest developments in the legal profession. She made this call during the enrollment ceremony held at the Judiciary Headquarters in Kampala, representing the Chief Registrar.
In her address to the new legal professionals, HW Bareebe stressed the importance of professionalism, ethics, and excellence in their work, emphasizing that these values are fundamental to their daily responsibilities.
She also reminded the advocates of their duties to themselves, the court, and the public, emphasizing the need for a high level of respect for these responsibilities.
Counsel Isaac Kyagaba, representing the President of the Uganda Law Society, advised the new advocates to let ethics, professionalism, and integrity guide them as they embark on their legal journey. He encouraged them to strive for excellence, pursue knowledge relentlessly, and maintain an unwavering commitment to justice.
Ms. Peace Athocon, the representative of the Law Council, called for a focus on service above self, professionalism, and a willingness to continue learning.
