In Nebbi district, West Nile, a Grade 2 Magistrate named Kerican Peter Prosper is facing charges in court. He is accused of taking Ugx 402 million, which was meant to compensate his uncles and aunties for their land, and using it for himself.

This investigation revealed that in January 2022, at Angal Lower Parish, Nyaravur Sub-County in Nebbi district, the beneficiaries trusted him to receive their compensation money. They thought he was trustworthy. The compensation money, which the Ministry of Defence had provided for land acquired by the UPDF in 2001, was paid to these beneficiaries through his bank account at Housing Finance.

The authorities are currently looking into how he used this money. It’s disheartening that someone in a position of trust within the community would succumb to self-interest and take control of property that wasn’t rightfully theirs.

The Police Spokesperson, SCP Enanga Fred, strongly condemns individuals who betray the trust of innocent civilians.
