Two senior officials of the Obongi District local government and a contractor, who were arrested on corruption charges, appeared in the Anti-Corruption Court on Tuesday and were remanded back to Luzira Government Prison.

The embattled Acting District Engineer, Onapa Ivan Opio; the District Desk Officer of DRDIP, Tako Geoffrey; and the Managing Director of Mac Business World, Fisher Martin, are facing corruption charges after being investigated by the Inspectorate of Government.

Residents of Obongi could not hide their happiness at the legal redress taking place over the allegations of corruption in the district.

Mohamed Musa, a 50-year-old man from Obongi Town Council, expressed his desire for the trio not to be granted bail.
