Rubanda District, Uganda — Police in Rubanda District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 68-year-old woman who was found dead under unclear circumstances.
The deceased, identified as Nancy Tindimurira, a resident of Rwaburengyere Village, Mushanje Parish, Ikumba Sub-County, was discovered lifeless in a valley at Nyakihita Cell on the morning of October 28, 2025.
According to Frank Ahumuza, the LC II Chairperson of Mushanje Parish, a report of suspected murder was filed with police after the body was recovered. Detectives later recorded statements from witnesses, and a postmortem examination revealed that the deceased had a deep wound on the head, suggesting possible foul play.
Police in Rubanda have since intensified investigations to establish the exact cause of death and to apprehend any suspects linked to the incident.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident, saying police are treating it as a suspected case of murder.
“Our officers at Rubanda Police Station have commenced inquiries to establish the exact cause of death and identify whoever might be responsible. We urge residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any useful information,” said ASP Maate.
