Okidi Patrick, Kole District – Police in North Kyoga Region have issued a statement on a fatal accident that occurred in Kole District over the weekend.
One person, identified as Ejang Terisana, a 75-year-old resident of Tekidi village in Kole District, died while being rushed to a medical facility after being involved in a fatal accident with a boda boda rider.
Ejang was knocked down on August 16, 2024, at around 5:30 PM by a boda boda rider operating a numberless motorcycle on the way to Ayer Seed Secondary School.
SP Jimmy Patrick Okema stated that Ejang was involved in a fatal accident and subsequently died while being transported to the Family Care Clinic in Kole District. The same numberless boda boda rider also knocked and injured one Etap Florence, a 70-year-old resident of Amibala Town Council.
Olobo Junior, a 20-year-old from Apapla Telela, Ayer Sub-county, was the rider who knocked down the two people who sustained serious injuries.
The scene has been visited by a traffic officer from Kole District.
According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the police PRO for North Kyoga Region, the rider Olobo has been arrested and is in police custody.
There was a threat from the community to lynch the rider, but the quick arrival of the police rescued him.
The motorcycle has been taken to Kole District pending inspection by the traffic police department.
He advised riders and pedestrians to be vigilant while using the road.
