Okidi Patrick, Alebtong – SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, PRO police for North Kyoga Region, confirmed in a statement to the media on Tuesday about a murder by mob in Alebtong district.
Following the suspected murder by mob of an unidentified person from Abutoadi Cell, Abutoadi Village, Alebtong, on May 31, 2024, the police are stuck with the body, which was taken to Alebtong Health Center IV. Meanwhile, they are hunting for three suspects allegedly involved in the incident.
The report was registered by Okello Joel, a 43-year-old area LCI of Abutoadi Village, Akura Sub-County, Alebtong District. The suspects include:
- A1: Opio Emmanuel
- A2: Angulu Isaac
- A3: Omara Jimmy
It’s alleged that on May 31, 2024, at around 22:15 hours, an unidentified man was arrested at the house of Opio Emmanuel in Abutoadi Village, Anyanga Parish, Akura Sub-County, Alebtong District. He was escorted by Opio Emmanuel, Angulu Isaac, and Omara Jimmy to the home of the LC1 chairperson. However, the deceased ran away, and an angry mob followed, caught him, and beat him badly.
The matter was reported at Akura Police Station, and the police responded immediately, visiting the scene of the crime. They found the man helpless and took him to Alebtong Health Center IV, where he was confirmed dead. The body of the deceased was conveyed to the mortuary pending a post-mortem. Meanwhile, the scene was documented by the SOCO. The area chairperson LCI was taken to the police station to make a statement to help in the investigation. SP Okema added that bloodstain evidence found at the compound of the LC1 chairperson was collected and exhibited, in addition to the statements obtained and attached to the case file.
Opio Emmanuel, Omara Jimmy, and Angulu Isaac are still on the run; however, efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.
The deceased is suspected to be a resident of Kirombe, Lira City. We now appeal to anyone from Kirombe whose relatives have gone missing since last week to check with the police in Alebtong before the body is buried in a government cemetery by Alebtong District Local Government.
