Fresh information has come to light regarding the robbery of businessman Robert Ponsiano Ssenyange in Yesu Amala three days ago. The three individuals who robbed him of his money and mobile phone were found to be carrying a toy pistol, which they initially presented as a real firearm, along with what appeared to be an SMG rifle. There is suspicion that the SMG may also have been a toy weapon.

Ssenyange had previously reported that he was ambushed and robbed by three people dressed in military camouflage as he left his workplace. They threatened him with a pistol and another gun, forcing him to surrender his possessions, which included Shillings 850,000 and a Samsung phone.

As Ssenyange raised an alarm, local residents intervened, pursuing the assailants, who eventually abandoned their vehicle by the roadside and fled. The police impounded the vehicle and continued their search for the suspects. One suspect, Musa Muwonge, has been apprehended. To the surprise of the police, Muwonge led them to the location where he had hidden the alleged gun used during the robbery, confirming that it was a toy pistol.

Muwonge reportedly stated, “It was not a real gun. It is what we have been using with my colleagues. We have never held an actual gun. My colleagues fled, and I don’t know where they are now.” Ssenyange positively identified Muwonge when invited to the Nansana Municipality police division.

While Ssenyange has not yet recovered his stolen money and mobile phone, it is suspected that the other two suspects took them. He expressed his gratitude to the locals for their swift response in assisting him.

Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, announced that the police are actively searching for the remaining suspects to face prosecution for robbery. He also cautioned people against walking alone at night, as the incident occurred at 11 p.m. Owoyesigyire emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and making emergency calls when needed.
