Rukungiri District Police are actively searching for four suspects connected to the murder of 45-year-old Emmanuel Saturday, a resident of Matebe Cell, Kyamakanda Ward, Buyanja Town Council, Rukungiri District.
The suspects have been identified as Ayebare, Posiano, and Gorrette, all residents of Omuyanja Cell, Kyamakanda Parish, Buyanja Sub-County. A fourth suspect is currently unidentified.
According to police reports, the murder occurred on Monday, March 10, 2025, at approximately 5:00 PM in Omuyanja Cell. Jerome Katabazi, the area chairman, reported the discovery of Saturday’s body at Biguri Trading Centre. The deceased, an employee of Thomas Baryamujura, was found with multiple injuries and bruises.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Ayebare, Posiano, and Gorrette assaulting the victim with sticks and bricks. Witnesses also claim they overheard the suspects discussing their intention to flee before police arrived.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, stated that the motive for the murder is currently unknown. He confirmed that police were alerted, and a murder case has been registered at Buyanja Police Station.
Maate confirmed that officers visited and documented the crime scene. Saturday’s body was transported to Rwakabengo Health Centre III for a post-mortem examination.
The suspects remain at large, and police are actively pursuing their apprehension.
