A fire recently burned down the International Police-Interpol offices located at the Uganda-Kenya border in Lwakhakha Town Council within Namisindwa district. The fire started on Tuesday afternoon and resulted in the complete destruction of important documents and files.

According to eyewitness Bonny Wekesa, local residents quickly responded to the emergency by using jerry cans filled with water to extinguish the flames that had already consumed all the files. Due to the police fire truck being stationed in Mbale town, it took more than three hours for it to reach the scene. By the time it arrived, the local residents had already successfully put out the fire.

Julie Namara, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Namisindwa, confirmed the fire incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire. However, further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire.
