Investigation Underway After Woman Electrocuted in Kamuli

In Kamuli District, the police are investigating the death of a 34-year-old woman who was reportedly electrocuted on October 25. The victim, Ms. Elizabeth Naigaga, a resident of Itukulu-Busabo Village, Bupadhengo parish in Nawanyago Sub-County, Kamuli District, lost her life instantly after accidentally stepping on a live wire. This information was provided by the police.

Mr. Micheal Kasadha, the Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson, revealed that the unfortunate incident occurred in a garden, where the victim stepped on a naked power line that was illegally connected. He also mentioned that a report had been filed under reference number SD 43/25/10/2023 at Kamuli Central Police Station.




A team of detectives and UMEME staff visited the scene and disconnected the illegally connected power. Additionally, the police have initiated a manhunt for six suspects, whose names are being withheld, as they are currently on the run.




The police took the opportunity to caution the public against illegal electricity connections due to the risks they pose to public safety. The deceased’s body was transported to Kamuli Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination, pending further inquiries.
