Kabale District: Bell Lager Employee Found Dead, Murder Suspected

A 22-year-old man named Andrew Byamukama, who worked at Bell Depot Kigongi in Kabale, is the subject of a police investigation following his tragic death. Byamukama, a resident of Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale District, was discovered deceased at approximately 8:00 AM this morning, his lifeless body floating in River Kiruruma.

Happy Arinaitwe, the Chairperson of Kanyinaburiba Village in Kyanamira Parish, reported the incident to Kabale Police Station. In response, a team, comprising homicide detectives, fire officers, and SOCO, led by Deputy D/CID/O D/IP Magara Richard, was dispatched to the scene (SDREF: 20/26/10/2023) to assess and document the situation.




The body was retrieved from the river and subsequently transported to Kabale Region Referral Hospital’s mortuary for a postmortem examination, aimed at determining the cause of death.




Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that the scene had been visited, examined, and documented. The postmortem results pointed to strangulation, unequivocally categorizing it as a murder. Maate also verified that the deceased’s body had been entrusted to his relatives for a proper burial.




He emphasized that the police are actively pursuing leads to identify suspects and facilitate their arrest for the purpose of prosecution.
