SACCO Leaders Remanded Over Alleged Misappropriation of PDM Funds in Namutumba

According to the charges, between August and September 2023, the three SACCO leaders allegedly escorted PDM fund beneficiaries to the banks. They then convinced the beneficiaries to withdraw the funds and subsequently took the money from them.

This morning, three individuals from Namutumba District were brought before the Chief Magistrates Court in Iganga on charges of stealing funds meant for beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM). The Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), led the investigation and subsequent arraignment.

The accused individuals are:




  1. Namugosa Farida, Woman Councilor for Nawampandu Parish
  2. Namaba Rogers, PDM SACCO Chairperson for Nawampandu “A”
  3. Kantono Ruth, PDM SACCO Chairperson of Kasegere B

According to the charges, between August and September 2023, the three SACCO leaders allegedly escorted PDM fund beneficiaries to the banks. They then convinced the beneficiaries to withdraw the funds and subsequently took the money from them. The suspects have been remanded in custody until August 2, 2024.

According to the Unit, this incident highlights ongoing efforts by the Anti-Corruption Unit, CID, and ODPP to expose and prosecute those involved in corruption.




The collaboration aims to ensure that government funds reach their intended beneficiaries without being siphoned off by unscrupulous individuals.

The Anti-Corruption Unit emphasized their commitment to bringing corrupt individuals to justice and ensuring that such acts do not go unpunished and claimed the remanding of these suspects serves as a warning to others who might consider engaging in similar activities.
