KABALE, Uganda – Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a woman identified only as Patricia, a resident of Nyabushabi Cell in Kyanamira Sub-county, after her body was discovered in the compound of Nyakijumba Catholic Church on Sunday morning.
According to the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, the body was found abandoned at around 9:00 a.m. on 30 November 2025.
Police officers visited, examined, and documented the scene. When a sniffer dog was introduced, it led detectives to the home of the deceased’s alleged lover, whose house is located next to the church. The suspect is currently on the run.
Investigators observed visible drag marks on the ground leading from the suspect’s home to the church compound, suggesting that Patricia may have died inside the house, which is now being treated as the primary crime scene. During a search inside the house, police recovered pieces of a mattress and blanket soaked with suspected bodily fluids. These items have been taken for forensic analysis.
Preliminary findings indicate that the body may have been kept inside the house for approximately three days before being moved and dumped at the church compound early Sunday morning.
The body has been taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination as inquiries continue.
