Kampala, Uganda – A 35-year-old boda boda rider, David Muwanguzi, has been remanded to prison by the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of defiling a 15-year-old girl. The incident allegedly took place two weeks ago in Kyebando Kisalosalo, Kawempe Division, around 3:00 p.m.

Muwanguzi, a resident of Kawempe Division, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi and pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, his application for bail was denied due to the absence of sureties in court. The magistrate stated that bail could not be processed without their presence and ordered Muwanguzi to remain in custody until his next court appearance on July 28, 2025.

According to the charge sheet, Muwanguzi is accused of performing a sexual act with the minor, fully aware that it was a crime. The case has drawn attention as authorities continue to address issues of defilement in the region.

The matter is set to return to court on July 28, when further proceedings will take place.
